We have developed several kayak models to answer the needs of people close to us. All models have been optimized for maximum speed, given constraints on stability and length.
Misje
Misje is the first model built by Tjelmeland Kayak. It is a long kayak designed for speed.
Kjeungskjær
Kjeungskjær is a touring kayak designed for trips over several days, with ample storage capacity. It is designed for experienced paddlers, with high speed potential and rather low initial stability. In a later version more initial stability will be built in, and the rather massive bow will be made more slender.
Turøy
Turøy is a touring kayak for children or small adults. Parents that love sea kayaking and that want to go on shorter or longer trips with their child paddling its own kayak would seek a kayak suited for the purpose. Most kayaks for children are so small and have so high stability that the child would have a hard time catching up with the parents for more than an hour. The first version of Turøy is being built now, and will later be amended based on tests on the water.
